The carnelian stone is believed to have fire at its core. Its colour varies from light orange to deep fiery red. In Ayurveda, it is considered a stone that increases pitta.

However, carnelian is not recommended for everyone. As it increases pitta (fire) in the body, individuals with pitta disorders should avoid wearing it.
Examples of pitta disorders include:
- High body temperature
- Acidity (acid reflux, heartburn)
- Excessive sweating
- Hormonal imbalances
- Inflammation
- Infections
- Cancer
- Anger, jealousy
- Violent behavior
- Hair loss
If you suffer from any of the above conditions, it is advised to wear a "cooling" stone that has opposite effects and helps decrease heat. Opt for agate stone.
